This year’s 19th Annual Ohr Meir Orlando Trip is being dedicated in memory of our dear friend Shmuel Erez who was fondly called Sammy. We hope this will be an aliyah for his special neshama and a nechama for his family.
Sammy was an unbelievable friend who gave to others with an abundance of love and sincerity. The moment you met Sammy, you were enveloped by his loving hug and glowing smile, which warmed every heart. His countless acts of chessed were always done quietly and his selfless nature allowed him to anticipate the needs of others. His true simchas hachayim and ahavas yisroel had a powerful effect on so many.
From his first year on our trip, Sammy gave his all to the Ohr Meir children. With his signature and contagious smile, he was always ready to help out day or night. His spirited laughter seemed to dissolve any problem we encountered. Sammy eagerly took care of so many of the integral aspects of the trip with unwavering dedication and efficiency.
Sammy arrived early to Orlando each year, in order to set up each room with toiletries and special mementos, to ensure that each child’s stay would be as comfortable as possible. Whether he was picking up medication for a sick child at three in the morning or coordinating radios and keys for staff members, no detail was too trivial and no errand was too difficult.
Sammy loved every child, and in turn they gravitated towards him. The Ohr Meir Trip meant everything to Sammy and Sammy meant everything to the trip. He will be sorely missed as a beloved member of the Ohr Meir Crew.
Yihay Zichro Baruch.

On December 9, 2012 a group of 50 children with cancer will exchange their hospital beds for four unimaginable magical days in Magic Kingdom, Island of Adventure, Universal Studios and Sea World. Flown in from all over the US and Canada, the children are accompanied by a complete support staff including counselors, oncologists, nurses, and more. The children are showered with VIP treatment, and endless gifts and surprises, including a private photo shoot with Mickey and Minnie, an all expense paid shopping spree at Toys R Us, private concerts and so much more.
All expenses of this trip including the airline tickets, bus transportation, hotels, food, gifts, and even the spending money for each child are paid for in its entirety by the Ohr Meir Foundation. Ohr Meir is a volunteer based 501(c)3 non-profit organization that prides itself in having absolutely no overhead or administrative costs with 100% of every dollar donated going directly to benefit the children and their families.
